9:00 AM (America/Denver)
Lifelong Learning Center
Description:
Whether you are a seasoned backpacker
or a casual day hiker this class
will give you valuable skills to help you
survive an unexpected night out in the
field. Students will learn the basics of
how to respond to a survival situation
in this 2 part course featuring an
evening lecture followed by a day in
the field to practice hands on practical
skill building, like: how to start a fire in
all weather conditions, powerful use
of the bush knife to create an effective
survival shelter using what nature can
provide, and how to build an effective
signal fire that will get Search and
Rescues attention fast. The course
fee includes a survival knife made by
Mora of Sweden. The field day will
take place entirely outside, rain or
shine, on Private forest land 20 miles
northeast of Missoula in the Gold
Creek Drainage of the Blackfoot River.
