MTCX is hosting the 10th Annual Missoula XC Race at Marshall Mountain, June 8 -12, 2022. MTCX Ski & Bikes is proud of the duality of the relaxed, fun atmosphere and the Euro climbing style course the Missoula XC brings to the table for the XC circuit in the U.S. This year’s Crocs & Socks theme brings the fun in the beautiful Western Montana setting of Missoula, MT–with mountain peaks and blue ribbon trout streams surrounding the epic trails of this course.

This year, the Missoula XC has upgraded to a C1 status, and has modified the course to add some technical features for UCI racing. There will be a variety of age groups and junior races, making Missoula XC the event to be at, for everyone. This event will surely bring out top notch talent and teams from around the country. Age group racing is back for 2022, and spectators are allowed at the venue. With the emergence of Team Stampede, a local Junior Development Team, there will be over 25 local racers in elite level fields. Also, the Missoula Mammoths NICA team has grown to 125 riders and continues to push mountain biking a fun and inclusive direction.

The races are put on by MTCX, with help from sponsors from around Montana and the U.S., including title sponsors Big Sky Brewing Co, Zillastate, Marshall Mountain Park, and Grizzly Liquor. Working toward a more equal and accessible racing culture for all genders, MTCX, along with sponsors, are providing mechanical support, through the assistance of Andrew Plant of Wild Fox Bikes, free to all of the Women’s Pro Field.

As a bonus for our local riders, XC Pros will be leading a skills clinic, presented by MTCX, NICA, and MTAlpha. Elite athletes in town for the Missoula XC will be coaching clinics at Marshall Mountain--you'll learn skills and get tips while riding our favorite trails in town, and will have the opportunity to ask professional athletes questions you may have about obstacles you've encountered during your training, or about their experience in the pro cycling world. https://runsignup.com/Race/MT/Missoula/MissoulaXCClinics

Marshall Mountain is a great example of why Montana is the Treasure State– with a backdrop of the quintessential retired ski chalet, incredible views of the Rattlesnake Wilderness, and tucked within a valley filled with pines and wildflowers, it is the perfect place for a high-quality, memorable mountain bike race. Parking is limited at Marshall Mountain, so if you bike commute or run over you get a free beer and t shirt!

As far as both racing and spectating goes, the atmosphere of the Missoula XC can’t be beat. There will be food and drinks, music, announcing, and the event will be broadcasted on our local ABC Montana channel. But, nothing beats watching an XC race live– and the changes made to the course enhanced the specitating opportunities so you can grab your cowbells and vuvuzelas and come out to cheer on the racers as they fly by.
