UM’s Humanities Institute

Reimagining Death, funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, is a series of free film screenings which present interesting perspectives on our common mortality. Each screening is introduced by a local expert, and followed by a discussion of the film.

College professor Jack Gladney (Adam Driver) and his family's comfortable suburban life is upended when a nearby chemical leak causes "The Airborne Toxic Event," releasing a noxious black cloud over the region that forces the Gladney family to evacuate. Written and directed by Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, The Squid and the Whale) and based on the classic novel by Don DeLillo.

Conversation hosted by Dr. Ashby Kinch (UM Graduate School) and Mike Steinberg (Roxy Executive Director)
