Peaceful Heart Yoga and Preschool
A basic weekly yoga class, designed to be affordable. Each series will build from one class to the next and will reflect the season, however each class will be easy enough to drop in to and as always will encourage you to move according to what your body needs on any given day. We will stretch, strengthen, breathe, relax, explore mindfulness and generally come back home to our bodies in the here and now. The class is inspired by the "Kripalu Yoga" style, which encourages you to discover your own yoga: Find subtle movement within a pose, move based on your intuition, let the practice follow you off the mat into daily life, bring the practice back to your heart as you explore the depths of who you are. All levels of experience welcome. See below for the theme of each series as inspired by ayurveda's respect of the seasons.

Class Themes run as follows:
September and October (8 classes): Send Down Roots - as we come off of the chaos of hot summer it is time to re-center through structure and routine as we prepare for the time of Vata (wind, cold, ungroundedness, anxiety, worry, scattered-ness) that comes with the fall months. We'll ground, center, encourage downward energy flow and explore home practice routines.

November and December (7 classes - last class 12/16): Heart Strengthening - we will continue to nurture our roots as we are deep in Vata season and begin to stoke the light at our hearts as we enter the darkest time of the year. We will nurture and refill our internal "well" or "bucket" first with nourishing and deep stretching poses to encourage lubrication of joints and energy flow and then let it spill out to the world.

January and February (8 classes): Energy and Breath Awareness - as the season sends us deeper into ourselves, we explore breath work (pranayama) and simple energy tools to access the more subtle layers of our being. Throughout our postures we will dive in deeper, hold poses longer, move slower and explore "Meditation in Motion".

March and April (8 classes - no class on Easter Sunday): Stoke the Fire and Cleanse - we will move and get the cobwebs out! Poses and breathwork to help the digestive system, lubricate the joints, get us breathing into the deepest parts of our lungs, awaken our muscles and clear out our brains.
