Science Cafe Description:
How can farming in space inform our ideas about sustainability here on Earth? Learn about this and much more at an upcoming Science Cafe: Planning for Mars to help Sustainability on Earth.

Jeff Pernell and Melissa Moore from Galactic Farms will talk about their current aquaponic installation located at the Corner Store in the Emma B. Lommasson Center on the University of Montana campus. Carmel Johnston, Crew Commander for the Mars Simulation Mission HI-SEAS IV will also be on hand to answer questions about their use of an aquaponic food production system in the recent year-long simulated Mars mission. This Science Cafe is an opportunity to ask questions of scientists and entrepreneurs in an informal setting, so bring your curiosity!

This event will take place at The Corner Store in the Emma B. Lommasson Center from 6-8pm on Thursday, October 27th. It is part of a series of Science Cafes around sustainability as an initiative through the spectrUM Discovery Area, Missoula's own hands-on science center, and the Arizona State University Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives.
