The Clay Studio of Missoula is proud to present a solo exhibition featuring the ceramic works of current artist in residence Kirk Jackson. The repetition and rhythm of throwing on the potter's wheel establishes a defined structure in Kirk’s pottery making process. No step is rushed and the attention to detail helps him precisely control each step in successfully creating his work. Though maintaining rigid control throughout his process, Kirk’s finished works are approachable handmade functional forms that reflect warmth and individuality.

Kirk Jackson discovered clay while studying at Ohio State University. While pursuing his BFA, Kirk had the opportunity to spend a semester in Jingdezhen, China. After completing his BFA, he worked as Studio Manager at Watershed, participated in the Working Artist Program at Longwood University, and was a Resident Artist as well as instructor at Seward Park Clay Studio (WA). Prior to coming to the Clay Studio of Missoula, Kirk was a long-term resident at the Red Lodge Clay Center (2014-2016). He is completing his second year of residency at the Clay Studio of Missoula at the end of the summer.

Kirk Jackson: Variation through Repetition will be on display at the Clay Studio of Missoula from August 3-31, 2018, with an opening on Friday, August 3 from 5:30-9pm. Gallery events are free and open to the public.
