The GFS Cooking School Camp

Good Food Store
Description:
The GFS Cooking School PresentsCamp I-Can-Cook
The doors to your child's school will soon close for the summer, but that's when the doors to our school open for them. Enroll your young chef in a session of the Good Food Store's Camp I-Can-Cook and we will help them experience the pleasure of preparing real food made with their own hands.

This summer we're presenting all new classes -and adding an extra day to all camp sessions. Basic cooking skills will be the foundation of the classes for the younger students. "Fun" is the focus of all instruction, with "hands on" lessons supplemented with discussions about health, nutrition, and food and kitchen safety. We close the summer with a Teen Chef camp that's designed to give older students a brief but focused introduction to the kinds of lessons they might experience in culinary school.

This year's Camp I-Can-Cook sessions will consist of four days of instruction, with all classes taught by the GFS cooking school staff, our deli chefs and guests. All classes will be 2 1/2 hours long and at the end of each day the young gourmands will gather for a family-style meal and enjoy the fruits - and vegetables, grains, pastas and meats - of their labor. Each student will receive a GFS Cooking School apron.

SESSION THREE: Teen "Chopped"
Ages 14 - 16, Tuesday - Friday, July 29 - August 1, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm, $100
"Chopped"- the adrenaline-packed Food Network hit - is what we'll emulate in this week's Teen Chef camp. Instructors will help students prepare appetizers, entrees and desserts with a variety of mystery ingredients, prepping them for Friday's final "episode." That's when we bring in the judges, including former Montana Chef of the Year, Tom Siegel.

To register, please call our Customer Service Desk at 541-3663. Do let us know in advance if your child has food allergies. For more information about the camps, please contact Emily Walter, GFS Cooking School Manager at 541-3663, extension 214.
