Community Conversation: What Can We Do?
6:30 PM (America/Denver)
Sentinel High School Auditorium
Description:
The community of Missoula struggles with underage alcohol and drug
use. Missoula’s underage drinking rate at 41% is nearly twice the National
average. Missoula’s binge drinking, among 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, is 25%.
There were over 900 MIPs given to people under the age of 21 in 2010. The
Missoula community is working together to try to lower these percentages
and save lives.

The Missoula Underage Substance Abuse Prevention (MUSAP) coalition with
support from the DUI Task force is inviting everyone in the community to
join in a conversation about underage drinking and drug use. Community
leaders, community experts and community members will come together
in an open forum to discuss the issues facing our youth. This conversation
is an opportunity for people to ask questions and share ideas about working
toward reducing this problem. Community agencies will also be on hand to
provide their vast resources to the public.

MUSAP in collaboration with many community agencies will use the
information and ideas discussed during this conversation to develop other
community educational opportunities, as well as, other prevention efforts.

Please help us with this important event by doing whatever you can to spread
the word. By doing so you just may be saving a young persons life. For more
information contact Brandee Tyree. This conversation is free, open to the
public with beverages and light appetizers provided.
