Beyond The (photography) Basics Description:
Your camera is not completely foreign to you, but you are far from proficient.

You enjoy photographing, but could benefit from a structured course to get you out shooting.

You want to improve, but with your schedule it's hard to find a convenient way to learn.

If any of these points sound familiar, this course can help you make progress on your way to becoming a better more educated photographer. Taught by RMSP co-owner and founder Neil Chaput de Saintonge and his son Forest, you will be in very knowledgeable and capable hands every minute of this six-part class.

This course begins with a brief review of the topics taught in Photography Basics including ISO, f-stops, shutter speeds and how they all work together to determine exposure. After the recap, you will move on to slightly more advanced topics such as advanced exposure techniques including the zone system for color (originally created by Neil after studying with Ansel Adams!), techniques for photographing landscapes, adventure, macro and night photography. Each meeting time will include lecture, demonstrations, plenty of time for your questions, assignments, and (except for the first) image critiques by Neil and Forest.

Please note, the class held on March 19 will have a later start time as that evening includes a field shoot focusing on night photography.

Students will need a digital SLR camera for this class as well as a way to edit and view images.
