The Poppovichs - 2019 Montana Premiere Project
7:30 PM (America/Denver)
Downtown Dance Collective
Description:
We don’t always have a choice of how we die… and that sucks… for everyone!

Playwright Leah Joki writes what she knows. "I cannot vouch for the outcome of the characters, but I didn’t make this up… this is the reality of my family… pretty much."

Leah Joki is an actor, writer and director with a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. from the University or Montana. She was the first person from the state of Montana to be accepted to the Juilliard Drama School in NYC. She has devoted her life to teaching theater in prison. She is the author of "Julliard to Jail" and her one-woman show "Prison Boxing" was nominated as the Best Solo Performance in Los Angeles.

Her newest full-length play, "The Poppovichs", originated as prompt at the UM in Dr. Randy Bolton’s playwriting class in 2013. It is a dark drama/comedy that explores mortality.
*For mature audiences
