4HistoryBuffs: The Women's Vote Suzette Dussault
6:00 PM (America/Denver)
Missoula Public Library
Description:
Calling all history enthusiasts! Join guest speakers for lively and entertaining presentations of historical interest. 1914 is the year the good men of Montana voted to give their sisters, their wives, their mothers, their daughters, their neighbors the right to vote. This vote was historic for many reasons, not the least of which was that it only succeeded because of a tremendous grass-roots movement across the state of Montana, where the people stood up and spoke up against the power and corruption of the ruling Anaconda Mining Company. This progression ultimately led to Montana electing the first woman to the US Congress.
