5:45-7:15***This format will be a bit different. In addition to our regular music improv stuff, we will probably do some karaoke or Weird Al type parody tracks, as we will be testing out equipment for the *upcoming event*! We will also probably play around with special effects. We will likely skip some of the warm-up exercises we normally do and try some new things while we have the equipment set up. If you think of any regular improv games that would be fun with special effects, please let me know :) -tom


***If you can find a karaoke version of a song or two you like on youtube, we could use that. If you'd like to do an obscure song, that would also work--we can just try out the on-the-fly vocal remover. Send me the youtube link and I can test out vocal remover on your trackbeforehand :)

!Free to all people of all ages and abilities, beginners welcome! Accompanists welcome! This is the 7th monthly BASE Musical Improv. It’s a supplement to the weekly BASE Improv Comedy and Joke/Sketch workshop Thursdays from 6-8pm. It’s right after BASE Yoga from 4:00-5:00 if you want to double up your evening.

This is a fun, welcoming workshop to improve our skills that relate to improvisational musical theatre. We’ll certainly work on improv, rhythm, pitch, and rhyming. There will be many options for how you would like to participate and you can always step back and watch at any time. Anyone might be teaching, learning, practicing, or supporting in a variety of activities. We will see who shows up and what they're interested in and try to do a little of everything

You can participate how and as much as you want. You can come and go as your schedule allows and take a break when you need one. We will start with some skill-building games for the first part. Next, we’ll take a quick break. Finally, we’ll improvise some songs in various pop and theatrical styles until we feel done. We could also do karaoke or lip-sync at the end as well if anyone wants to practice being on stage without having to improvise yet-- Comment or message me and we can even get your track ready in advance

This workshop meant to be available and valuable to everyone of all skills and abilities :) Since we're working on a wider variety of instrumental, vocal, and improvisational skills, chances are you will find parts of it to be fun, familiar, unfamiliar, challenging, or boring-- sometimes simultaneously. You're welcome to participate in a variety of ways or simply just watch at any moment. Accompanists needed! :)
