The SOR Quartet plays Schubert & Prokofiev

The SOR Quartet plays Schubert & Prokofiev Description:
Our second hour-long fall concert brings the lilting melodies of the Rosamunde quartet of Franz Schubert (so named for its theme in the second movement), paired with the dynamic driving energy of string quartet #2 by Sergei Prokofiev, known as the Kabardinian for its use of folk themes and rhythms. These two works are a striking contrast to one another and an excellent showcase for displaying the versatility and musicianship of four of our SOR musicians: violinist and SOR Artistic Director Maria Larionoff; UM Violin Professor Margaret Baldridge; SOR Principal Violist Jennifer Smith, and UM Cello Professor Adam Collins, as they join together for the debut of the SOR String Quartet. We hope that those of you who enjoy the dynamism and power of our full SOR string sections will be intrigued and inspired by hearing these two works performed as a string quartet, which for string players is considered to be the “pinnacle” of chamber music, both intimate and powerful! Tickets are available through GrizTix griztix.com, by phone 888-MONTANA, or in person at the Adams Center Box Office (no fees). This performance is limited to 100 tickets.
