Racial Justice and the Humanities Description:
Please join the UM Humanities Institute for an important Zoom panel exploring racial justice in the humanities.

Panelists include:
Professor Jamil Drake, Religious Studies and African American Studies, Florida State University
Professor Felipe Hinojosa, History and Latin American Studies, Texas A&M University
Professor Rosalyn La Pier, Environmental Studies, the University of Montana
Professor Tobin Miller Shearer from UM's History and African-American Studies programs will moderate the panel.

Key questions that we will explore include:
In which ways can Humanities scholars connect to and support racial justice struggles through their scholarship and teaching? Are there opportunities or obstacles in these efforts particular to the Humanities? How have Humanities scholars contributed to racial justice struggles in the past? Are there ways in which they have proven obstructive?
