Gypsy Jazz is back at L & Q - in the Root Cellar! Description:
Attention Missoula! On Saturday, October 3rd, The Elephant Gerald Project the Skalsky Brothers Trio return to the Root Cellar for another night of Gypsy Jazz!

Elephant Gerald is both a performing act and the creative partnership at the center of Elephant Gerald Productions. Led by Jordan Medeiros and Patrick Christianson, the project spans jazz performance, event curation, and full stage production with roots in swing, early jazz, and vintage music traditions.

Landon and Ethan Skalsky are an authentic gypsy jazz guitar duo and the core of the Skalsky Brothers Quintet, known for lightning-fast playing, deep swing, and true Django-style authenticity.

Trained by authentic Romani Gypsy Jazz musicians, this is a not-to-be-missed jazz scene in an environment reminiscent of the 1920’s Speakeasies.

Think of velvet furniture, deep jeweled tones, soothingly cool, dark corners and a secretive vibe all wrapped up in a cozy underground vibe in an old railroad building as old as 1915, itself.

There have been whisperings that the Hungarian guitarist/musician for Gipsy Nation, György Lakotas might be in Missoula to play with our local Gypsy Jazz musicians! Gipsy Nation is a fusion, pop-flamenco and Latin group from the South of France that has family lineage ties to the phenomenal Gipsy Kings, a music group originally founded in 1979 when Nicolas and Tonino Baliardo began playing together in the Southern French town of Arles.

“They traveled throughout the country, busking on the streets of Cannes, playing wherever they could—weddings, parties, festivals. Having adopted the perpetual motion of the gypsy lifestyle, they eventually changed their name to the Gipsy Kings”.

(To learn more about the Gipsy Kings, check out their website: https://www.gipsykings.com )

György Lakotas’s ability to visit the Root Cellar is still up in the air, but we are keeping our fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed that he does!
