Join poets Teow Lim Goh and Shin Yu Pai in a conversation about the influence of place and location on their poetry processes, particularly on their 2021 releases Faraway Places and Virga, respectively.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Teow Lim Goh is the author of Islanders (Bower House, 2016), a volume of poems on the history of Chinese exclusion at the Angel Island Immigration Station, and Faraway Places (Diode Editions, 2021). Her work has been featured in Tin House, Catapult, PBS NewsHour, Colorado Public Radio, and The New Yorker.

A 2014 Stranger Genius Award nominee, Shin Yu Pai is the author of ten books of poetry, including Virga (Empty Bowl). Her work has appeared in publications throughout the U.S., Japan, China, Taiwan, The United Kingdom, and Canada. Poems have been commissioned by the Dallas Museum of Art twice and her work is also featured in the Poetry-in-Motion Program sponsored by DART. She has been a featured presenter at national and international literary festivals including the Geraldine Dodge Poetry Festival and the Montreal Zen Poetry Festival.
