Publishing for Students with Disabilities
4:30 PM
University of Montana
Universities face the same problem all over the world, “How do students with disabilities gain access to information?” This one-hour session will provide a high-level perspective on access to the World Wide Web, and to published materials, e.g. textbooks, journals, and papers. It will explain what “born accessible” published digital books are and how to use and find them. We will look at copyright laws and copyright exceptions and the Marrakesh Treaty. It will go on to look at strategies on what a university can do when born accessible materials are not available.

George Kerscher, a pioneer in the field of digital technology and accessibility with an honorary doctorate from the University of Montana, will be giving a keynote address on Wednesday, September 11 at 4:30 at the University Center Theater. This presentation will be open to the public, and reasonable accommodations will be available, including captioning and sign language interpretation.
