Backpacking with Kids: Kids Lake Description:
Ever wanted to do an overnight with your kids, but not known where to start? The Great Burn Proposed Wilderness is a great spot to introduce the littles to the fun of the backcountry!

Saturday, August 13, 2022 10:00 AM to Sunday, August 14, 2022 5:00 PM

Join GBCA board member Elise Watts and her kids on an overnight at Kid Lake! In the summer of 2020, Elise set off with her son and daughter, 6 year old twins, for 3.5 weeks navigating the windswept ridgetops of the Great Burn Proposed Wilderness. They covered nearly 80 miles, visited 16 lakes, had numerous wildlife encounters and made lasting memories. No small feat for an adult, but truly incredible for a family with small children. To check out more about their trip, watch her presentation, Backpacking with kids: A family's 80 mile trip across the Great Burn.

Trip participation is limited to 15. There will be an informational meeting the week before the trip.

Backpacking distance is 2.3 miles to camp. This trip is rated as easy in difficulty, but please keep in mind what distance your child has hiked leading up to this trip.

**All volunteer trips are subject to change due to ever changing fire activity.
