Join us for First Friday on August 1 to celebrate the opening of Through a Cheyenne Woman’s Eyes, featuring ledger drawings and paintings by nationally renowned artist Alaina Buffalo Spirit, a senior member of the So'taa'ee band of the Northern Cheyenne Nation.
This compelling exhibition showcases mixed-media works on antique account sheets, maps, and canvas, drawing from Northern Cheyenne history, culture, and matriarchal values. Buffalo Spirit’s inspiration includes traditional ledger art, her personal lineage, and even the film Woman in Gold, which influenced her recent use of gold leaf.
