THIS CAMP TAKES PLACE IN OUR ANNEX SPACE - 1110 HAWTHORNE ST UNIT C

A throwing course for teens of all levels to learn from a teaching artist! Learn or continue to build technique on the wheel and explore basic forms with lots of opportunities to practice, practice, practice! We’ll also investigate decorating forms by making additions like handles, adding and carving slip, trimming or adding feet, practicing basic shaping techniques like fluting, and more to make pots with personal flare.

At the Clay Studio of Missoula, we only allow children age 12 and older to use the electric potter’s wheel. Students in our classes are expected to use power tools such as the wheel safely and largely independently, as well as be mature and responsible enough to learn and follow studio clean-up procedures: being good stewards of the space we all share. It is also safer and more comfortable for children of this age to operate this unique studio power tool. We have attempted throwing classes with younger children and found that kids under 12 are not ready to independently follow safety and clean up procedures, and we do not make exceptions to this rule.

*A Family Membership with your children as submembers is required to qualify for the discount. Individual memberships provide discounts for classes which the membership holding individual is taking, and do not apply to family members.
