Indian Country Conversations - Historical Memory

Description:
The second talk in this conversation series is with Lily Gervais and Donnie Wetzel, both Blackfeet Tribal Members. Lily Gervais is a licensed clinical and addiction social worker and works as the clinic director at the Missoula Urban Indian Health Center. Donnie Wetzel interfaces with Indigenous youth across the state as the American Indian Youth Development Coordinator for the Indigenous Montana Behavioral Institute, Office of Public Instruction.

MAM’s summer exhibitions explore relevant issues of migration and immigration. Gervais and Wetzel will discuss how historical memory, trauma, misrepresentation, and displacement impact American Indian communities today and the movement to shift thinking towards a reconciliation with the past in order to thrive.
