Historic Masonry Tour Description:
May 2019 Historic Preservation Month Presents: Jim Sears, UM Professor of Geosciences, Jim McDonald, Preservation Architect, and Solomon Martin, Historical Stone Mason, will lead a walking tour discussing building stone in Downtown Missoula’s historic buildings. The tour will feature the use of stone for structure, decorative elements, and in some cases show how it is used as finishes on the interiors. Furthermore, the tour will address where many of the stones were quarried and how they were used in the different styles of the buildings. Meet at the fish statue adjacent to Caras Park, 1:00 PM.
