Cartography Comes Alive on May 15 will feature Jon Turk, a renowned explorer recognized as one of the Top Ten Adventurers of the Year by National Geographic. He is known for his incredible storytelling abilities that bring fascinating adventures to life. At this event, he will present a captivating presentation on Exploring in the Footsteps of the Ancients. As a professional adventurer, Jon thought it would further his career if he could paddle across the Pacific Ocean in a standard, off-the-shelf kayak. Halfway through the expedition, he met Moolynaut, the Koryak shaman, and Kutcha the Raven messenger. My life, seeking high adventure, only intensified, but the essence of the journeys assumed exciting new meanings and focus. In this presentation, we will retrace daring journeys across oceans and ice fields, Exploring in the Footsteps of the Ancients.
