Workshop: Flathead Reservation Arts
9:00 AM
Missoula Art Museum
Description:
Inspired by Marcus Amerman: Indian Country, participants in this adult workshop will get the chance to explore the world of contemporary Native American art. Buck Morigeau is a respected cultural artist and knowledge keeper for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. He will share some of his traditional and contemporary Salish artforms, made of materials like buckskin, wood, and furs but also with materials such as metal, PVC, and acrylic paint. He creates works inspired by traditional forms and early reservation period adaptations to those forms. In this workshop, participants will tour the exhibition and create their very own shield form, decorated with images of personal identity, protection, and heritage.

Materials included. Limited to 10 students.
