This class is for beginners, repeat students welcome.

Explore the nuances of building clay wares by hand! This class will give you a head start into the endless possibilities of handbuilding. Skills learned will prepare you to create both pots and sculpture, and help you understand how to use tools and techniques to create safe-to-fire forms of all kinds. Learning will include essential techniques like proper scoring and joining, as well as foundational building methods like pinch, slab, coil-building, and combined building. Absolute beginners and repeat students are welcome!

Requirements: A positive attitude and desire to try and learn!

Included in class fee:

First bag of clay
Firing fees for all work created during the 10-week class session (size limit- items must not measure more than 20” in any direction)
Access to work in studio outside of class meeting time
Access outside of class time will be restricted to business hours when other classes and programs are not in session in the classroom, and additional monitored times. Your instructor will orient you on how to reserve open studio access on the first day of class.

We ask that students comply with all of our health and safety guidelines. Students must sign a class waiver at the beginning of any class to confirm their agreement and provide an up-to-date emergency contact for studio records.

Class is limited to 12 students max.
