Description:
DIALOGUE: EXPERIMENTING AND EXAMINING STRUCTURE
3P The Roxy Theater

Before ANCIENT WOODS screening @ 4:15P

This session will examine the ability to challenge the expected yet stay true to ethical wildlife filmmaking, science, and craft. How can structures challenge the classic mold and stand out in the herd? Explore and participate in an analysis of how new voices, angles, and alternative approaches can tell stories about our natural world in a new way. Consider how technological experiments, non-narrative frameworks, film length and pushing narration can demand different levels of engagement. View various clips that touch on the power of observation, the power of a long take, and the power of challenging your audience’s expectations. We will discuss the film, ANCIENT WOODS, as a group and will touch on how the structure differs in relation to classic structures in wildlife film.
