Screenings: GRIZZLY COUNTRY & PEACOCK’S WAR

Doug Peacock in attendance

Introduction by Rick Bass

For the better part of five decades now, Peacock has been a fierce advocate for bears. Peacock’s War follows this Vietnam Vet, author, filmmaker and naturalist as he spends years alone in the Wyoming and Montana wilderness observing grizzly bears and grappling with the repercussions of war. Doug Peacock was a Green Beret medic and the real-life model for Edward Abbey’s George Washington Hayduke in The Monkey Wrench Gang.

Grizzly Country highlights how time in the wild changed the course of Peacock’s life. With the protection of Yellowstone grizzlies in mind, he reflects on the importance of habitat and why he continues to fight for wild causes.

Presented in partnership with the University of Montana Wildlife Biology Department
