The Heart in Winter: Fiction Reading Experience
9:00 AM (America/Denver)
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UM (MOLLI)
The Heart in Winter: Fiction Reading Experience Description:
1.5-hour (each), in-person reading experience, Thursday, April 9th & 16th. Fee $35 includes book, discussion and Author Q&A session ( one-time annual MOLLI membership fee of $40). The Heart in Winter is a romance, an adventure, a fascinating glimpse of life during Montana’s early mining boom, and a literary work of art set in 1891 Butte, Montana. The Guardian says, “Barry’s books are known for their stylistic brilliance, and The Heart in Winter is no exception…. Almost every sentence is quotable.” The Observer says, “By turns funny and tragic, full of typically outrageous figures and sublime writing.” Kevin Barry visited Butte more than 25 years ago and came to realize just how strong the Irish heritage was there. The Heart in Winter is an entirely new reimagining of his impressions of Montana.
About Author: Kevin Barry is an award-winning Irish writer. He is the author of three collections of short stories and four novels. His 2019 novel, Night Boat to Tangier, was longlisted for the 2019 Booker Prize. The Heart in Winter is his latest novel, published in 2024.
