Following Braided Streams Through Local History Description:
1.5-hour, 6-week course on Thursdays, April 9 - May 14. Fee $70 ( one-time annual MOLLI membership fee of $40). Offered in-person and remotely. Instructor: Sally Thompson. Please join award-winning author Sally Thompson for a deep dive into local history. Discussions will be based on the contents of her new book, Black Robes Enter Coyote’s World. We will explore the various peoples who shaped this local history; their ways of understanding and experiencing the world; their influences on each other; and the forces that shaped Salish history during the lifetime of Chief Charlo (1830-1910). Our last session will consider the present and the future in this place we all call home.
About Instructor: Anthropologist Dr. Sally Thompson has spent decades collaboratoring with tribal partners in Montana. As director of the Regional Learning Project at UM, Thompson interviewed scores of Native American elders as the foundation for developing curriculum resources on history, geography, and culture. Since retiring, she continues her consulting work, writes historical non-fiction, and engages others through teaching and conversations. She is the author of three books.
