At Montana BioAg, we work with naturally occurring fungi to develop products and applications for agriculture, forestry, and bioremediation. Montana BioAg does not sell anything; we license
products and technology to established companies or spin out new start-ups. Since the company’s founding in 2008, we have developed products from multiple phase 1 and II SBIR
awards from the USDA, NSF, and NOAA, and research contracts with private companies. Current research is developing fungal biopesticides for bark beetles in sequoias, for insects and diseases
in wheat, and technology for remediating heavy metals in acid mine water. Cliff first grew a fungus in 1980. He has been a cofounder of several start-up companies, some
successful, and has managed to avoid ever working for academia or large corporations. He is an inventor on 10 US and international patents. In the 1990s, a cofounder of Mycotech Corp, which
built the world’s largest fungal bioinsecticide plant in Butte, which is still in operation.
