Recovery Through Writing- The Phoenix Missoula Description:
The Phoenix is a national non-profit that builds sober active communities across the U.S. and around the world. All Phoenix events are free of charge for anyone with 48 hours of continuous sobriety and their allies.
Please join us for free coffee, pastry and community at the beautiful Shack Café. Writing down what’s on our minds has been shown to have numerous benefits to our well-being. And guess what? Telling our stories to other people has even more! So in this group, we do both.
The goal of these workshops is to provide a safe, encouraging space to express thoughts and feelings in writing. The focus is not on the writing per se – there is no critiquing and no judging. We write for 20 minutes on a theme, and then we read what we came up with to the group and by doing so, we build community. We share similarities in our stories which unite us. As listeners, we ask questions and give supportive feedback. This is not a performance. It’s a catharsis and a bonding experience. No writing experience necessary!
Please visit our website to view our full schedule of in-person events, as well as our live streaming and on demand Phoenix event opportunities.
If you would like to volunteer to lead an event, would like to provide feedback or ideas about future events, or to get any questions about our organization and programming answered, please send an email to dstandley@thephoenix.org
