Reimagining the West: Contemporary Ghost Stories Description:
March 12 | 5:00 – 7:00 PM | Free
Inspired by Dagny Walton’s This Land is Haunted, MAM invites you to an evening of chilling contemporary ghost stories that explore themes of colonization, Native resilience, environmental destruction, and the mythic cowboy. Writers are encouraged to submit flash fiction pieces (max 500 words) for a chance to have their story featured. Up to two submissions per writer are allowed, with inspiration drawn from Walton’s evocative artwork and titles (Red Hand, All the Women Weeping, Shoot the Messenger, The Magician). Submit stories to marie@missoulaartmuseum.org. Three stories will be selected for presentation at the event, and the winning submission will receive a print from Walton’s collection. Don’t forget to include a brief bio with your submission!
