Preventing and Managing Pain Description:
Preventing and Managing Pain
with Mari Hodges
Thursdays, March 5-26
10:30AM - 11:30AM

Pain is an amazingly effective system that your brain uses to protect you when it interprets that you are in danger. It can be so effective that you can’t think of anything else. Learn how you can decrease the risk of pain and how you can help yourself to manage and reduce pain. The goal of this course is to help you discover greater ease, well-being and quality of life.

Each week, this class will combine lecture and discussion with experiential sections. The experiential parts are based on the Alexander Technique and will include activities that are meditative in nature as well as exploration of gentle, easy movement. We will explore the principles of the Alexander Technique to help you learn to release unnecessary muscle tension, reduce stress and use your body in a way that supports pain prevention, management and reduction.

If you suffer from chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, headaches or various other conditions which have led you to experience pain for 3 months or more this class may be for you. Participants are invited to take part in activities or just listen and watch, as they wish.

Please wear comfortable clothing.
