Americana is an easy starting point. But, it is a little dreamier, with a pop music sensibility. Sometimes it’s a sad lullaby. Other times it swings wildly into rowdy aggressive story telling. The influences include, Wilco, Spoon, Cake, Tom Waits, Bob Seger, Tom Catmull, Drunken Prayer, and The Beatles. Listening to Travis tell stories and sing songs might be the only way to truly understand what “Love is a Dog from Nebraska” sounds like. But, Dreamy Pop Americana is a good starting point.
