The Precarious Position of Minority Rights Description:
Tobin Miller Shearer presents "Trains, Dolls, and Demands on the Devil: The Precarious Position of Minority Rights" as part of the UM Alumni Association’s Community Lecture Series, “Honoring the Centennial of the 19th Amendment and What it Means to Be an American.” Shearer is the director of the African-American Studies program at UM and a professor of history. He conducts research into the history of race and religion in the United States with a particular emphasis on prayer, the civil rights movement and white identity. He recently was named a Montana University System Teaching Scholar by the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education for developing high-impact teaching practices for student success and serving as an excellent model for others in higher education.

Series cost - $25 | $20 for UMAA members or $10 for students. Individual lecture tickets for $10 will be available at the door. If you purchase a series ticket for all 6 lectures, you can pick up your ticket at the first lecture. Seats are limited and sell out quickly.
