The UM Dining ducks are turning one year old!

Join us for a birthday lunch in the Food Zoo at the University of Montana as we celebrate our feathered friends’ big day.

UM Dining adopted the six Welsh Harlequin ducklings a year ago to help out in the UM Dining Gardens by managing pests and foraging the soil. The “brace,” as it’s called, has grown and thrived in its new home. Its six happy members enjoy squawking at passersby, frolicking in their first snow and processing leftover leafy greens. They also provide eggs for our chefs to use – which you can enjoy in the Vietnamese Noodle Bowls we will be serving in the Food Zoo that day!

Although Poppy, Hazel, Kiwi, Mabel, Etta, and Duckleberry Finn aren’t permitted to enjoy their salad and mealy worms in the dining room, they will be joining us via live-stream on the Food Zoo flatscreens and on the UM Dining Facebook page.
