Global Public Health Lecture Series: “Sabbatical in Serbia: Comparisons & Differences Between Health, Education & Welfare in Serbia & the US"

Sue Furey, retired Missoula County Public School teacher spent most of her 2015 sabbatical helping young adult with disabilities in Balgrade, Serbia navigate work, recreation, and arts. In Serbia, she learned about services for people with disabilities, the Roma community, and taught English. During that year, she also volunteered at a refugee camp in Greece. Sue studied Therapeutic Recreation at the University of Illinois and spent 10 years working in community recreation for people with disabilities, teaching leisure skills and advocating for access for all.
The Global Public Health Spring 2020 Lecture series features health professionals who work to improve public health around the world sharing their experiences and insights weekly during the Spring semester.
