Communication Studies Professor Sara Hayden presents “Women and Citizenship: Jeannette Rankin and the Fight for the Vote” as part of the UM Alumni Association’s Community Lecture Series, “Honoring the Centennial of the 19th Amendment and What it Means to Be an American.” Hayden’s research focuses on rhetorical criticism and theory. In her work, she integrates interests in the social construction of gender, feminist theory and feminist movements. Sara has published and presented essays exploring both contemporary and historical rhetoric surrounding women's health, reproduction, sexuality education, maternity and the abortion debate in the United States. Her current work focuses on the rhetorical construction of maternity. Sara currently is a professor in the Department of Communication Studies.

Series cost - $25 | $20 for UMAA members or $10 for students. Individual lecture tickets for $10 will be available at the door. If you purchase a series ticket for all 6 lectures, you can pick up your ticket at the first lecture. Seats are limited and sell out quickly.
