Description:
Darcy Chenoweth :: Showing up for each other after loss in the Mountains

After an accident in the mountains, people need support. The loss can be a full range of things, from the loss of function due to injury, the loss of trusting ourselves to make risk management decisions after a close call, or the loss of someone we love. By knowing how psychological stress injuries occur, there are tangible ways we can show up for each other as a mountain community. This will be a short discussion to get the ball rolling for us to feel empowered to face difficult incidents, while it is up to all of us to continue to show up for each other as those incidents occur, as they undoubtedly will.

Darcy Chenoweth has worked in various industries in Montana for over two decades as a nurse, in curriculum development for wilderness medicine and psychological trauma of first responders, and as an artist. She is now pursuing her doctorate as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner focusing on secondary trauma for people working and recreating in mountain environments.
