Western Cider
On February 9th, Western Cider hosts the seasonal rite of WASSAIL, a traditionally British celebration, to raise the winter spirit of the community. The purpose of this ritual is to insure a bounty of apples for the coming season. The festivities will include costumed pageantry, theater, music, procession, and ritual around fires in our outdoor cider garden. This is a unique event comparable to none.

To keep us in good spirits, the first cider from our 2019 harvest will be cracked open. We will also have our hot Wassail on tap, made from a 10.6?V New England cider we call The Colonial.

In the spirit of participation, we encourage everyone to attend the festivities in Old World costumes. We will be hosting several workshops to help prepare you for the festivities including mask, crown, and costume making - in partnership with Zootown Arts Community Center, Farm Hand Farm, and Earth Within Flowers. The Clay Studio of Missoula will host a clay cup making class to equip you with an old-style cup to drink out of during the celebration. See details on these workshops on our Facebook Events page.

Join us in making this legendary celebration - legendary! Tell your friends! Tell your family! Follow our stories on Instagram and Facebook as we familiarize our community with this ancient celebration. WASSAIL! ('Waes Hael!' means 'Good Health!')
