It’s a big year-the biggest we’ve seen in more than a decade. After careful consideration of more than 100 talented candidates, we have narrowed the field. Five exceptional conductors from across the globe will come to Missoula this concert season as finalists for our next Music Director. Two women and three men are vying to lead the Missoula Symphony & Chorale into the next decade. Each finalist has selected a unique program showcasing their talents and distinct styles. Assistant professor and director of orchestral studies at UConn, Paul McShee is known for the remarkable blend of warmth, energy, and driving rhythmic vitality he evokes from any orchestra he conducts. As a passionate educator and advocate for both classical and new music, McShee has created numerous programs intended to encourage young people to open up to classical music.
