Are You a String Player Looking for a Group? Description:
Do you play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) and would like to start playing with a group? Garden City Strings is looking for more members to join us in making music while having fun!

We meet every Tuesday at 1:30 PM. We play an eclectic mix of music ranging from Classical to Celtic to Pop and more! The average difficulty of the music we play is intermediate, probably an advanced high school level of skill. If you haven’t played in a while or haven’t played with a group and need some time to get up to speed, you should probably join the group in January or September. If you think you can “jump right in” and start playing, you can probably join any time of the year. If you aren’t sure, you are welcome to come in and observe a practice to see if our group is a good fit for you.

We perform several times a year. We've performed at the church where we practice, the Memory Cafe at the library, with the City Band, at the airport for Christmas, high school reunions, senior residence facilities, with high school orchestras...etc.

Members should be able to tune their instrument, read music and play the instrument at least at an intermediate level. You also should be able to print your music and keep it organized in a 3 ring binder. We have a fairly large repertoire to keep track of so you must be able to find pieces easily.

So, if you are interested in joining us, please e-mail me at traci@hschiro.com. We do ask that you commit to attending our practice sessions on a regular basis if you decide to join the group. We look forward to hearing from you!
