Basic Canning 101

Your grandmother spent her summers
preserving fresh food from her garden
to enjoy all winter long. The art of
canning, a basic skill everyone should
know, is alive and well in the 21st
century. Canning saves you money,
provides you with healthy fresh food
and gives you great satisfaction in the
final product. During this class we will
learn the very basics of canning: what
equipment you need, what foods are
appropriate to can, safety concerns
plus a step-by-step demonstration
for canning a simple recipe. Don’t
wait until fall to learn the art of canning!
Make the most of your harvest
all summer-- make strawberry jam in
June, pickles in July, relish in August
and sauerkraut in September!
