This class is for beginners.

A primer to get you started in the world of clay! This beginner-friendly class will orient you to the basic technique on the potter’s wheel, as well as how to use basic handbuilding skills to create and embellish simple pottery forms such as cups and bowls. You’ll also learn basic glazing techniques to bring your pottery to life with color and shine. This class is a great entryway if you’ve never worked with clay before, or makes an excellent refresher if you’ve been out of the studio for a while. Students may progress further over their time in this class, the goal is to become comfortable with the material and studio to prepare for future adventures in clay.

Requirements: A positive attitude and desire to try and learn!

Included in class fee:

First bag of clay
Firing fees for all work created during the 6-week class session (size limit- items must not measure more than 20” in any direction)
Access to work in studio outside of class meeting time
Access outside of class time will be restricted to business hours when other classes and programs are not in session in the classroom, and additional monitored times. Your instructor will orient you on how to reserve open studio access on the first day of class.

We ask that students comply with all of our health and safety guidelines. Students must sign a class waiver at the beginning of any class to confirm their agreement and provide an up-to-date emergency contact for studio records.
