Description:
This show is composed of original oil paintings depicting Montana’s vanishing treasurers; a head frame from Stewart Mine in Butte, a 1913 Pullman passenger train car, Stimson’s Chip Bin, Ford and Dodge Pick up trucks, a rusted Bean Picker by Allis-Chalmer, John Deere tractors, etc. Schwarz Karst has photographed a number of abandoned pieces of old equipment scattered throughout the state, painted close ups of these mechanical items to the point to which their shapes appear to be abstracted and non-representational, however their colors are interpreted quite literally.
