Grizzly Peak retirement community, in conjunction with Maxim Health
Systems, will conduct a Flu Vaccination Clinic on Friday, Oct. 10,
2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. Grizzly Peak, managed by Holiday Retirement of
Salem, Ore., is located at 3600 American Way in Missoula.
Cost per flu shot is $30; cost per pneumonia shot is $45. The clinic is open to any legally consenting adult.
Medicare Part B and some insurance policies may cover part of
these costs; those intending to attend the clinic are encouraged to
contact their insurance carriers for details.
Maxim Health Systems' aim in providing these clinics is to help
increase the number of people who receive vaccinations, which the
national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers the
best way to combat the flu. According to Julie Gerberding, CDC
Director, more than 36,000 people in the United States die from
influenza and flu-related complications such as pneumonia each year,
and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized for treatment.
According to Nina Buchanan, health resource coordinator for
Holiday Retirement, "We support our neighbors, and feel the clinic is
an excellent way to reach out to the community.”
