Description:
Antique Quilts: Unique Patterns and Shapes
December 5 - 31, 2008
This festive, antique quilt collection is a selection of 16 works from the Jim and Kate Carroll Collection. Viewers will enjoy a variety of hand-quilted traditional and symmetrical patterns featuring stylized flowers and figures, with a decidedly pastel palette. Many of these 19th and early 20th century quilts are baby quilts. MAM recognizes and wishes to celebrate the influence of this historic craft and its connection to many contemporary expressions. This traveling exhibition is sponsored by Copper Village Art Center in Anaconda under the auspices of the Montana Art Gallery Directors’ Association (MAGDA).
