Dance Support Group to Help Abused Women
6:30 PM YWCA
Description:
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 7, YWCA Missoula will offer a free weekly dance movement group aimed at healing women survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault or vicarious trauma.
With the theme, “Creating Inner Peace,” this group is designed to assist women in releasing stress and other painful emotions stored in their bodies from past traumatic experiences, according to Jamie McGarvey, support groups coordinator at the YWCA.
“Research has shown that bodywork is an important and effective tool in healing from trauma,” said McGarvey. The workshops will be facilitated by trained dance, yoga and Pilates instructor, Maryse di Meglio. The group runs every Tuesday through October from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
To register for this closed group, please call 543.6691. The first class on will be an orientation session; no new participants can join after that date to ensure a stable and safe environment for everyone.
