Spring into Health Fair
12:00 PM Missoula Public Library
Description:
Feeling stressed and need to relax? Wondering what you can
do to prevent or treat osteoporosis? Interested in discovering the real story
behind tobacco? Looking for helpful resources to answer your health questions?
Not quite sure what happened to the food pyramid? Come to Missoula Public
Library’s series of health programs as part of our Spring into Health series.
The programs, offered from March 31-April 3, are aimed at providing the best
possible resources so the Baby Boomer generation is informed as they grow older
and have more health concerns. Come to one or all of these free programs at
Missoula Public Library:
Natural Remedies for Stress and Relaxation. Sick of
feeling tired and stressed out? Let Herbalist Elaine Sheff, of Meadowsweet
Herbs, share some natural solutions to help boost your energy, manage stress
and promote relaxation. Monday, March
31, noon-1 p.m.
“Fit to a T.” Join Community Medical Center’s Stroke Coordinator Linda Hightower for this nation-wide
education program on bone health and osteoporosis, created by the Public
Library Association and the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. The
T-score is the measure of a person’s bone density and susceptibility to
fragility fracture. Monday, March 31,
3:30 p.m.
“The Real Story Behind Tobacco.” If you’ve
always wondered why so many people have such a love affair with tobacco, come
to this talk for both smokers and nonsmokers, those wanting to quit and those
who know they’ll never quit. This will not be a quit session or a come-down-hard-on-smokers
session. Monday,
March 31, 7 p.m.
“Health Resources for Baby Boomers.” Discover where to find the answers to your growing health
questions with Martha Thayer of Rocky Mountain Laboratories on Tuesday, April 1, 7 p.m.
“Portion Distortion.” Are
you old enough to remember the small 5-cent bottles of Coca Cola? What size
small fries used to mean? Join Kathy Revello of MSU- Missoula Extension Agency
for a look back at how big a “square meal” used to be and discover ways to
re-train your brain on what a “plate full” should look like. It’s all a matter
of Portion Distortion! Wednesday, April
2, 2 p.m.
“Spring into Health” Fair! Twenty local healthcare providers and resource
organizations will be at the ready to provide the information you need at Missoula
Public Library’s first health fair. Stop in and browse Thursday, April 3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
