Glacier National Park in a Warming World panel
7:00 PM Roxy Theater
Description:
As the "Irreplaceable: Wildlife In a Warming World" exhibit wraps up its visit in Missoula this week, local scientists from the renowned Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center will meet this Thursday evening at the exhibit's Roxy Theater location to discuss global warming's impacts on Glacier National Park and the wildlife that call the park home. Scientists will present the latest research on the park, focusing on threats posed by climate change to its plants and animals, many of whom are featured in Irreplaceable photography exhibit.
"Climate change is probably the single most important challenge we face in native species and aquatic ecosystem conservation. The changes anticipated over the next 10 to 50 years rival in scope and importance more than 100 years of habitat disruption caused by human development," said Dr. Bruce Rieman, retired fishery research scientist from the US Forest Service and Rocky Mountain Research Station. Rieman, who will present information on global warming's impact to the bull trout, will be joined by climate change specialist Dr. Dan Fagre and lynx specialist Dr. Kevin S. McKelvey.
Age Group: All Ages
